What To Know About Daytona Bike Week 2024

Jared Witham |

History

Dating back to 1937, Daytona Bike Week has evolved into one of the largest and most renowned motorcycle rallies in the world. Originally conceived as a racing event, it has grown into a 10-day extravaganza, attracting hundreds of thousands of bikers and spectators alike. The event usually takes place in March, marking the unofficial start of the motorcycle riding season in the United States.

The event will take place from Friday March 1st to Sun March 10th.

Main Attractions

Racing at the Daytona International Speedway

The heart of Bike Week lies at the Daytona International Speedway, where adrenaline junkies and racing enthusiasts gather to witness thrilling events. From flat track racing to supercross, the Speedway hosts a variety of competitions that showcase the skill and speed of motorcyclists.

Main Street Madness

The historic Main Street in Daytona Beach becomes a hub of activity during Bike Week. Motorcycles line the street as riders cruise, show off their custom bikes, and revel in the unique atmosphere. The street is adorned with vendors, live music, and the intoxicating scent of barbecue wafting through the air.

Bike Shows and Custom Exhibitions

Daytona Bike Week is a paradise for motorcycle customization enthusiasts. Various bike shows and exhibitions feature one-of-a-kind custom builds, vintage motorcycles, and the latest models from renowned manufacturers. It's an opportunity for builders and riders to showcase their creativity and passion for two-wheeled machines.

Beach Rides and Scenic Routes

Beyond the bustling events, Daytona Beach offers riders breathtaking coastal views. Organized beach rides and scenic routes along the Atlantic coastline allow bikers to experience the freedom of the open road while enjoying the beauty of the Florida landscape.

While the area offers many scenic rides, here are some recommendations for scenic routes you can explore during Daytona Bike Week:

The Loop

A classic choice for bikers, the Loop is a scenic ride that takes you through the natural beauty of the Ormond Beach area. It includes sections of A1A and John Anderson Drive, offering views of the Halifax River, live oak canopies, and the Atlantic Ocean.

A1A Coastal Byway

Ride along the A1A highway for breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. This coastal route takes you through charming beach towns like Ormond Beach, Flagler Beach, and St. Augustine.

Tomoka State Park Loop

Take a ride around Tomoka State Park, located north of Daytona Beach. The loop offers a mix of scenic landscapes, including river views, marshes, and oak hammocks. Look for the historic Tomoka Mounds and Midden archaeological site.

Ormond Scenic Loop and Trail

This loop takes you through Ormond Beach, Tomoka State Park, and the Bulow Creek State Park. It offers a variety of landscapes, including riverfront views, canopied roads, and historical sites.

St. Johns River to DeLand

Head inland for a ride along the St. Johns River towards DeLand. The route takes you through picturesque landscapes, including river views, farmland, and small towns.

Ocala National Forest Loop

For a longer ride, consider heading west towards Ocala National Forest. This route takes you through the scenic forested areas, with opportunities for wildlife spotting and a peaceful ride through nature.

Remember to check road conditions and any event-related closures or traffic restrictions during Daytona Bike Week. Additionally, always follow local traffic laws and safety guidelines while enjoying the scenic rides.

Entertainment and Nightlife

As the sun sets, the party doesn't stop. Daytona's bars and venues come alive with live music, entertainment, and a lively nightlife. It's a chance for bikers to unwind, share stories, and forge new connections with like-minded individuals.
