How Long Do LED Motorcycle Headlights Last?

How Long Do LED Motorcycle Headlights Last?

Dave Oberst |

Motorcycle lights are very important for drivers, as they’re the only way you can see in dark conditions or at night. That’s why a lot of people like to switch out their headlights frequently and invest in newer and better bulbs. However, before you make the change yourself, it’s important to understand how long LED motorcycle headlights last, so you see the purpose of the upgrade.

Halogen Lights

Though many newer motorcycles come with LED lights, the standard lighting option in most motorcycles is halogen lights. These bulbs provide strong lights so you can see in the dark and are still the standard even after many generations of motorcycles. They can last up to 1000 hours, dimming as the end of their life approaches.

LED Motorcycle Headlights

There’s a shift in motorcycle design away from halogen lights to LED headlights, and it’s easy to see why. These lights provide a lot more vison at night and can last twice as long, for a total time of 2000 hours. That’s why many people make the switch, as it saves money when replacing the halogen lights and provides more light at the same time.

Other Motorcycle Lights

When it comes to the other lights on your motorcycle, they also can benefit from using LED lighting. For example, an LED Harley Davidson sportster turn signal can last 20,000-40,000 hours. This means you’ll likely only need to replace them once or twice if you utilize them a lot.

Replacing The Lights

Most motorcyclists will take the time to invest in LED light replacement kits for their motorcycles. It’ll save you money in the long run and provide more visibility over halogens as you can tell from how long LED motorcycle headlights last. You can easily do the conversions yourself, or you can hire a professional to make the changes for you.

If you’re looking for ways you can both improve your motorcycle and save money in the long run, try switching to LED lighting. You’ll be safer at night and you won’t need to replace your lights as frequently.
